South Australia's underground metal scene is about to get a harrowing new addition to its discography.
Adelaide-based depressive suicidal black metal band Veneficium will release their debut full-length album Eye for an Eye on April 2nd. The record marks the first major studio output from the project, which has been carving out a reputation in the local underground since emerging as a live act.
Veneficium has been steadily building momentum throughout 2025, appearing on some of Adelaide's most uncompromising metal bills. The band, featuring former members of local act Malheißt, opened this year's Metal United Down Under event at the Crown and Anchor hotel in April before appearing on The Cacophonous Underground showcase at TIA Live in August .
Described by promoters as a "harrowing DSBM crew," Veneficium deals in the bleak, emotionally raw end of the black metal spectrum . That descriptor should give some indication of what to expect from Eye for an Eye—expect minimal compromise and maximal despair.

Andrew 'Achrila' Foster - Drums
Ranfer 'Nihilus' Spinks - Bass
Album release ' Eye for an Eye' coming April 2026
Details about the album itself remain sparse, but the title suggests thematic territory befitting a band operating in the DSBM realm. The April 2nd release date will see the band join the ranks of South Australian extreme metal acts that have committed their vision to tape.
Given the band's live pedigree and lineage, Eye for an Eye will likely capture the intensity they've been demonstrating onstage throughout 2025. The Adelaide metal underground has produced more than its fair share of quality extreme music over the years, and Veneficium appears poised to add to that legacy.
